Take a look at these two quotes:
“If you don’t understand the details of your business you are going to fail.” – Jeff Bezos
“If you just focus on the smallest details, you never get the big picture right.” – Leroy Hood
These two quotes seem to contradict themselves… but they’re both correct.
Most of us – and especially those of us who are business owners – tend to focus on the details. That’s important – we need to be on top of things.
The trouble is, when we see something we don’t like, we often obsess about it.
That’s why we get upset when we have a bad month in our business.
Or we get angry when an employee makes a mistake.
We tend to let these things derail our day.
Yes, they’re important…
… they’re only details.
One secret to having more peace is to be able to zoom out and see the big picture.
While one dead tree in a forest is a potential problem, it doesn’t mean the whole forest is kaput.
So if we find ourselves getting wrapped up in a small detail that makes us feel bad, stop, take a breath and zoom out.
Perspective… it’s a wonderful thing.
